I am an Assistant Professor for Mathematics at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where I also hold the Eliza Ricketts Foundation Career Development Chair. My research focus is on the development and implementation of new numerical methods for quantum simulation and quantum embedding. More generally, I am interested in the mathematical analysis and the development of electronic-structure methods in quantum chemistry and quantum computing.
I received my doctoral degree from the University of Oslo, where I was supervised by Dr. Simen Kvaal, Prof. Dr. Trygve Helgaker, and Prof. Dr. Andre Laestadius. Before joining RPI as faculty member I pursued a postdoctoral position at the Department of Mathematics at the University of California, Berkeley where I was advised by Prof. Dr. Lin Lin.
Furthermore, I am the founder of the SIAM student chapter at UiO, Norway's first SIAM student chapter, and recipient of the Longuet-Higgins Early Career Researcher Prize 2019.
Academic Background
My academic foundation lies in the fields of mathematics, theoretical physics, and quantum chemistry. During my master's studies, I began to focus my expertise on mathematical aspects of quantum chemistry. To deepen my comprehension of computational methodologies within electronic-structure theory, I joined the Hylleraas Centre for Quantum Molecular Sciences from September 2017 until June 2020 as a doctoral research fellow.Education
- Philosophiae Doctor (June 2020, University of Oslo)
- Master of Science in Mathematics (August 2017, Techincal University of Berlin)
- Bachelor of Science in Physics (July 2016, Technical University of Berlin)
- Bachelor of Science in Mathematics (August 2015, Technical University of Berlin)
Research Collaborations
Combining different expertises and experiences in research projects enables us to deepen our understanding and to solve higly complex problems. I have had, and still have, the pleasure to work with highly talented and inspiring researchers within a wide range of fields (applied mathematics, theoretical chemistry, materials science, and theoretical physics), on multi-diciplinary problems.-
